The town of Reepham

The Dial House, Reepham, on the historic market square

Wish to live in one of the best places in Britain?

We love Reepham for many reasons, along with so many other people. We often suggest this small market town nearby as worthy of a visit to our guests. Some drive to it, others cycle. It is on one of our picturesque cycling routes. Reepham has now been included in The Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2025 . It has been named among 72 of the most desirable locations to live in the UK. A few guests have so fallen in love with this part of Norfolk they have relocated to our local villages. Will there be a rush now to do a recce of Reepham with a view to moving there?

This is of no surprise to the people of Reepham. It is a hidden gem. Not surprisingly it was also recognised as one of The Telegraph’s “20 amazing places for an affordable autumn break in Britain” 3 years ago.

Many know Reepham for having three medieval churches in one churchyard , a piece of history so special there is only one other location of its kind known in Europe.

On the other hand the Sunday Times judging panel especially chose to praise Reepham’s independent shops. Amongst others there is a butchers, delicatessen, hardware, soft furnishers, chemist, antiques and gift shop.

The Bircham Centre on the Market square is the place to go every Wednesday morning from 8 am to 11 am for a Country Market. This interesting building is much used and includes a library. Furthermore it has a long history, having once been a Red Cross Hospital.

There are a wealth of options if you wish to explore Reepham, surrounded by picturesque countryside between the Wensum and Bure Valleys, on foot. In so doing you can then treat yourself to one of it’s many excellent cafes and tearooms. Bread Source is team of award winning artisan bakers housed in the impressive Georgian building pictured above. Another is Diane’s Pantry with one of the most recognizable and iconic shop fronts in the traditional market square. The charming 17th-century coaching inn, Kings Arms, is a very popular eating and drinking venue. Move out a little from the square to find another pub and excellent cafes.

Reepham has been described as a “sleepy place, with steam trains chuffing out of its toytown station” The Whitwell and Reepham Heritage Railway Line runs a busy programme of popular events throughout the year.

To conclude, if you are seriously interested in moving to a vibrant market town full of gorgeous Georgian homes then a good starting place may be the town’s own estate agents Parsons,  renowned as one of the best independent estate agents in Mid Norfolk.
