That’s not to say I’ve measured it to the last inch but from a bird’s eye view. Looking at an outline geographic map of the county, we are very centrally located in Norfolk. Ideal for exploring Norfolk.

Being in the heart of this fine county offers you great access for reaching every part of it. Norfolk is made up of 7 administrative regions. Each region claims fame for, and is proud of, it’s own special highlights which draw visitors from far and wide. We are absolutely centrally located to explore each region. Where are the ‘best’ places to explore in Norfolk?

Each to his own, as we say. When asked about the ‘best’ places to explore we seek out that guest’s interests. What appeals to one will not necessarily excite another. I got thinking about this yesterday. Tripadvisor has just announced that a Norfolk attraction not far from here has been named among the nation’s “weirdest”. Now a ‘weird’ attraction is not top of my list of places to see. If it is for you then read on!

A ‘weird’ attraction in south Norfolk

Grimes Graves, at Lynford, is one of the strangest and quirkiest spots to visit, according to a report from Betway. Many reviewers have used the word ‘weird’. This prehistoric flint mine does, from above, have the appearance of a lunar landscape. It is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a habitat for rare species of plants. I don’t recall our guests using the word ‘weird’ . . yet! Fascination and interesting has been fed back to us . . . and worth seeing, although not a whole day experience. Being a 40 minute drive from our central location, a visit can be incorporated with a walk in Thetford Forest. UK’s largest man-made lowland forest and a well known feature of Breckland.

Neville and I are both Norfolk ‘born and bred’. If you’re unsure about which direction to head ask us. Suggestions can send you north, south, east or west. Whichever direction there is easy access from here. Your mode of travel need not necessarily be via car. With a bus stop a few yards away you can be chauffeured. For the cyclists among us National Cycle Route 13 passes through the village.
