Giving back to causes that truly matter
Supporting good causes with our guests
Each year, we’re reminded just how lucky we are, not only to live in this lovely part of Norfolk, but to share it with wonderful guests. Because of your continued support, we’re able to give back to causes that truly matter. Every penny helps and last year these pennies totalled £434. This amount was passed on to Macmillan Cancer Support, our 2025 Charity of the Year. Simply, we couldn’t do this without you. So whether you’ve stayed with us once or many times, please know that your visit has helped contribute to something bigger. Thank you.

How do we support good causes?
We fundraise throughout the year. Primarily, it is the ‘profit’ or ‘mark-up’ from our small Non-Profit shop which forms the donation given directly to charitable organisations. In reality this is only a few pence per item. Whether it’s a Dann’s ice-cream tub or a pack of Martin’s Farm rare breed sausages or a bottle of Sandringham apple juice, for example, the few pennies gradually add up. We source all our shop stock from businesses within 30 miles of our farm gate. As well as supporting local businesses it provides guests with specialities of the region. Guests can sample the produce as a tasty addition to the breakfast table or a barbeque supper whilst staying. Additionally, they can take home gifts to those people who’ve been putting the bin out or watering the garden!

A huge effort to support a good cause every year
Big Sky Brisley has given a donation to charitable causes each year since the site opened in 2021. That being a Covid year was not an easy time for anyone. Regulations closed the site for part of the year. We, together with our limited number of guests, made a small donation to the restoration fund of the medieval church of St Bartholomews. The following year, 2022, it was Alzheimers Research UK who received £301.

Marie Curie UK is a very special charity for so many through the amazing work it does for people at very difficult times. They received a donation £387 from us in 2023.
Parkinsons, the popular charity chosen for 2024 and a grand total of £503.52 donated.
We are so fortunate to have guests who return to stay with us each year. Often the idea of our next charity arises from conversations as we catch up with guests and discover what is meaningful to them. Alternatively a kind neighbour may step in from time and time to help us out of a muddle. Knowing a particular cause may be dear to their heart might give us the focus for another charity to support.

Our local producers
Many thanks must also go to the local producers who allow me to buy relatively small amounts at less than the recommended retail price. These range from larger farms and businesses to one-man-bands, like our wonderful honey supplier, Paston Bees. This small business producing wonderful honey is managed by a highly skilled, hard-working and sustainable bee keeper. Also a huge thank you to talented artists who have generously given a huge amount of their time creating cards and artwork for us.
Our 2026 Charity of the year
Here’s to another year of welcoming you – and continuing to give back together. This year, 2026, we are focussing on the British Heart Foundation charity and looking to help make a difference beyond our gates.
